Old Knäbäck

Eel fishing by Haväng

Right where Knäbäcken, a smll creek, flows into the ocean in the north part of Haväng, there was once a small fishing village. According to Albert Svärdh there were only seven fishers living in the village in 1621. Only in the late nine-teen'th century did the village star to grow. By the turn of the centtury there were aproximately 130 people living in the village. The main income was farming, shipping of wood to waiting ships and and fishing.
